Centenario Bridge in Sevilla (Spain)

The section planned for the bridge is composed of two roadways with three lanes each, separated by a fixed barrier and with a New Jersey type fixed traffic railing on both sides, givin a total width of 24.20 m. The bridge is approximately 2,280 m long, and crosses the San José Lagoon, located in the southeast of San Juan, in the north-south direction. The project has been undertaken in accordance with the AASHTO (1991) regulations for a medium-high seismic zone (basic coefficient 0.20 g of acceleration of the ground). Depending on the capacirt of the equip, emt for thrustinmg and assembling beams, the design has optimized the type of beams and piles. In fact, the lengths of the spans are such that the capacity of the beams used and the strength of the piles are worn out almost simultaneously, taking into account seismic and second-order effects. The construction project began in May 1992 and ended in December 1993.
