Design and construction of "Farigola" Footbridge

The “Farigola” (thyme) footbridge connects the Riu Sec square with the ‘Farigola’ quarter over the railways. With this connection the residents avoid 700 m of walking until the next cross. But the construction of the footbridge belongs to a bigger project to develop an area of 60.000 m² which were without use.

The footbridge is 66.125 m length, distributed in two spans of 38.125 + 28.00 m length; the platform is 2.40 m wide. The structure combines the frame typology with a suspended deck; the two main girders are supported by steel frames of hot-rolled I and H sections. In the square side, the lift is integrated with the frame structure, therefore all the structure performs and looks as a one element.
